Durham Storytellers, previously known as Durham Folklore Society , changed its name through unanimous vote on July, 2017 to better identify our storytelling community and members as storytellers.

The group held its first meeting in September 1990. Starting with a handful of enthusiasts, the membership blossomed to become a forum for storytellers and those interested in storytelling. We encourage the exploration of the oral tradition as represented in the Canadian mosaic.

The primary objective of the Durham Storytellers is to advance storytelling in the Durham Region for storytellers and those interested in storytelling and folklore.

Sadly, our Founder: B. George Blake passed away January 10, 2018  at age 95.

Rest in Peace Dear George
